Green sustainability is not a one-time event or a mere industry buzzword. It is a core business practice that more and more companies are embracing to further their own corporate citizenship, prolong the life of their facility, and to respond to the increased demand from their customers for environmental awareness and conservation.

Guardian is the first and the largest facilities maintenance company in the nation to commit to total green sustainability in every aspect of our firm's operations and service delivery. We also demand the same commitment from every one of our vendors.

Guardian is the first janitorial company to proactively utilize our “green” cleaning practices at every project site – with the customer’s complete approval and active cooperation – but at no additional cost for the training, supplies and equipment necessary to certify the given projects “green.”

Our goal is to provide our customers and our own employees with the cleanest, safest and healthiest work environment possible.

Our use of “green” materials, equipment and supplies has demonstrated improved results in facility maintenance and achieved major quality and productivity enhancements. The results of Guardian’s “green” programs have been major. By all accounts, we have become the acknowledged experts in green sustainability, consequently being asked to consult with building owners on a wide range of “green” issues and ecological programs.

Guardian’s “green” programs are aligned with the following organizations and business practices:

United States Green Building Council (USGBC)
LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design)
  Green Building Rating System®
Green Seal

United States Green Building Council (USGBC)
This association is the nation’s foremost coalition of leaders from across the building industry. It works to promote facilities that are environmentally responsible and healthy places to live and work. Today, more and more companies follow the guidelines of the USGBC for “greening” their organizations. Guardian actively follows the best practices that are consistent with USGBC guidelines.

LEED
The LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System® – developed by the USGBC – is a voluntary, consensus-based standard for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings. While there are multiple LEED standards, LEED-EB (Existing Buildings) specifically addresses high performance cleaning processes and the use of Green Seal certified products.

Green Seal
Green Seal is an independent, non-profit organization that strives to achieve a healthier and cleaner environment. Green Seal has no financial interest in the products that it certifies or recommends, nor in any manufacturer or a cleaning service company.  Green Seal’s evaluations are based on state-of-the-art science and information using internationally recognized methods and procedures. Green Seal provides credible, objective, and unbiased information whose only purpose is directing purchasers to environmentally responsible products and services.

As leaders in green sustainability practices, we play an active advisory role with our customers. Guardian can help educate your company on “best practices” in green sustainability, help you improve your worker’s health and well-being, lower absenteeism rates and increase productivity. Guardian can also help you map out an action plan to introduce a “green” mindset throughout your organization that includes:

• Energy conservation strategies
• Flooring with recycled content
• Increase natural light levels
• Recycling programs
• Water-efficiency strategies

“Green” cleaning products perform as well as or better than their traditional counterparts.  From a pricing standpoint, their costs are competitive with traditional maintenance products. When “green” products are combined with “best practices” in high-performance cleaning processes, managers can actually lower the total cost of cleaning the facility.
